EWBills and EWTouch Comparison - Part 2
We continued comparing EWTouch Version 3 to EWBills on the Cloud -- especially for those who have worked in EWTouch. We hope to shorten the transition cycle since they are essentially the same but not quite. Today we focused on the Billing Worksheet and will continue with more items in the Billing Worksheet in our next webinar (Part 3) with the primary focus on detailed usage of electronic file transfer of bills.

Lots of cool stuff! Easier set up & maintenance of rate sets, the change in optional wage rate level is great, we pay a lot of workers above scale. Filters are more detailed and easier to navigate. I really like the Job descriptions as in prime or sub, the tagging is nice too. I’m sure I will have questions once I start playing around with it, overall nice job! Oh Yeah, I really like the revamp of the FTP site. I’m really looking forward to being able to access it directly, as you know because of issues on our end I had to go through separate application to access it. Love the easier on the eyes visual appeal of the user interface!!
We are targeting EWBills Cloud Version Rollout for January 2014. So today's discussion was how to prepare for this in December 2013 because our goal is to get every subscriber company setup on the cloud with their database for a test drive or running live in December.
We talked about these topics:
Each User - Register at EWBills Help Desk
Company Administrator Only - Prepare for Migration
- Email us a company logo and name it like this companynickname_logo.jpg i.e. nicetouch_logo.jpg
- Prepare EW3 Database
- Jobs - inactivate non current jobs
- Users - inactivate non current user AND make sure strong passwords are put in for each user
(you can put a standard strong company password and have users change when they log in)
If you cannot see the password field, go to Setup, Application Setup, Job tab and check Enable Login for Program Access.
Please note that you can still leave the Bypass Password checked. Now you should see the Password under the User.
- Labor Surcharge - separate out non-Caltrans labor rates work types into another Book i.e. COMPANY
- Install/Run DEM (Data Extraction Module)
Nice Touch Solutions - We prepare your database and invite you to access - turning on new button on your Help Desk button options
Each User - Install/Run EWBills Cloud Launcher
Company Administrator Only - Login and Prepare User List and Access Rights
Try it and Decide
- Run Test Drive first or Go Live
- Let us know when you are ready to go live
- Run DEM program again and we will refresh your database with your latest current data
- Shutdown your local EWTouch system except for reference only.
Note End of Life for EWTouch Version 3 is now December 31, 2014 with the delay of Caltrans new CMS system. This is subject to change of course.
Quick overview of the program and the Billing Worksheet then went through the more common billing scenarios and how we handle them.
In this extra webinar was mostly a question/answer period and we covered EWBills Help Desk, Equipment Rates, Labor Surcharge Rates, Labor Rates, Shift Differential, Query Wizard, Export Wizard, Quick Filter, etc.
In this month's webinar, took a glimpse of the Job Dashboard then we discussed Labor Rates and miscellaneous topics addressing attendees questions and things we wanted to share.
In this month's webinar, took a poll and attendees mostly wanted to discuss Job Setup. We then quickly showed how to add a Private Equipment Rate Book and Rate File to the Equipment Rates list. At the beginning, we also quickly touched on Program and Caltrans Equipment Rates updates.
In this month's webinar, we looked at a few comparison between EWTouch Version 3 and EWBills in starting the program and working with the Rate File Registry especially the Labor rates, although we did touch on the Equipment and Labor Surcharge Rates.
In this month's webinar, we gave a sneak preview of our record tagging capabilities in the Billing Worksheet list for deleting records and printing bills.
We showed the subtle differences between the choice of the Caltrans, Universal, and Special bill forms. There is now an option to NOT use Caltrans form limits for our NTS Universal and Special Bill Forms including number of charges items, labor charge hours and straight time rates.
We also covered a number of miscellaneous topics like Owner defaults when adding a new Job.
